The Role
Senior project engineer nuclear power plant technology
The individual will be responsible for the specification of requirements, selection and design of the mechanical systems within the nuclear island. Further to this they will be responsible for the creation of documents / technical papers for the permit applications.
Tasks
*carry out project plan including regular reporting (Work Breakdown Structure, activities, dependencies, schedule, resource plan, costs, risks)
*Supervise external service support and accompany, test and participate with the development of the deliverables
*Implement and support cross-site technical communication
*Reviews and study the nuclear sector
*Assess and contribute to documents related to the building permit applications
*Asses and develop technical specifications and requirements for the mechanical systems of the Nuclear Island, including
- Nuclear Steam System Supply (NSSS), (e.g. reactor pressure vessel, steam
generators, valves and pipes, fittings, heat exchanger)
- Nuclear auxiliary and ancillary systems (e.g., safety supplies, pressure
accumulators)
- Control systems (such as rod drives, borating)
- Pumps and motors (such as reactor coolant pumps / feed water pumps)
*Development of designs for mechanical systems, NSSS
*Technical evaluation of offers / bids / tenders
*Analysis and assessment of market sector
*Coordination with other departments to ensure project sites
*Represent the client on site with suppliers and authorities
*Represent the project interests with relevant bodies and experts

Information skills and contact with authorities, suppliers and others in accordance with the communication matrix
Education:
*M. Eng (Dipl. Ing ETH) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Languages:
*German (fluent) or French (fluent)
*English (very good)
Professional competence (skills):
*Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical engineering with specialization in Nuclear Engineering
*Proven experience in design, designed and / or construction and operation of nuclear power plants
*Demonstrated knowledge of at least the following areas of Nuclear Islands:
- NSSS (with RDB, steam generators, valves and pipes, fittings, heat exchanger)
- Nuclear auxiliary and ancillary systems (e.g. safety supplies, pressure
accumulators)
- Control systems (for example, rod drive mechanisms, borating)
- Pumps and motors (e.g., reactor coolant pumps / feed water pumps)
*Knowledge of the rules in the field
*Sound knowledge and experience in the use of:
- ASME
- RCC-M
- KTA
Methodological skills (techniques and methods):
*Practical experience in System Engineering (Methodology)
*Knowledge of project management
*Structured and analytical approach
Social skills
*Good team player, especially in coordination with other departments
*Persuasion and strong professional appearance
Leadership
*Experience in technical management of external service providers
